First.....Prev.....Next.....Last

Starting with release V3.17.x.x a number of new reports and charts will be issued with each upgrade.  Many will not require any special instructions as they will generally conform to the standard method of reporting or display.

Charts Overview
As with reports access to charts will generally be found on the menu to which they relate and usually in a sub-menu headed "Charts" although some may be directly on menus which have few items to choose from.

The same general facilities used in report selection are available for charts, see Selecting what to print for more on this.

Charts which display data over several periods will usually show a "rolling 12 months" defaulting to the last 12 complete periods.  This excludes the current period.  However, you can select any number of periods, including the current period if you wish.  Obviously some charts, just like reports, only make sense with current period data, even so old periods can be selected.

The chart data is displayed in a separate scrollable table.

Notes
  • The charting software automatically builds the visual display from the data provided using the data itself to set the X and Y axes values.  As a consequence a change to the volume of data brought about by "the calendar" or other external factors can change the axes scales and therefore the visual appearance of the chart and unintentionally be misleading.  The same data in a report may not have the same impact for the following reasons:-
4 The reporting period when based on calendar months (and for most users a period equals a calendar month) has fluctuations in the number of times tenants will pay rent.
4 Some months will have five "pay days" and others only four.  Tenants paying fortnightly can pay six weeks rent in a month.
4 Long weekends can push a rent payment into the next month.  Easter and the Christmas / New Year break really messes things up.
  • Probably the most important consideration is that any comparison between two charts must be made with the charts having the same scale particularly the horizontal and vertical axes.

    The Scroll and Zoom Functions
  • To scroll the chart hold the right mouse down and drag the chart up or down.
  • To zoom in on an area on the chart to examine it in greater detail the mouse is used to select a rectangle which will "explode" to display in the same screen area.
  • To select the area start at the top left > hold the left mouse button > drag the mouse to bottom right of the area to be expanded.
  • This exploded area can be zoomed again and again as required.
  • To cancel the zoom and return to the main chart hold the left-mouse button and move the mouse up and to the left anywhere on the chart.

    Printing
  • Whatever you see on the screen chart is what will print on the paper when [Print] is pressed.
  • The table will always print in full unless you select specific pages.

    Data Selection
The same general facilities are used in report selection are available for charts, see Selecting what to print for more on this.

Charts which are designed to display data over several periods will usually act as a "rolling 12 months" and default to the last 12 complete periods.  This excludes the current period.  However, you can select any number of periods, including the current period if you wish.  Obviously some charts, just like reports, only make sense with current period data, even so old periods can be selected.
